Download transactions and reconcile from Fidelity
Fidelity has disabled their OFX server, so automatic retrieval of transactions/positions from Fund Manager is no longer possible, but you can still download/import this data.
Importing Transactions
- Download a CSV activity file from "Accounts & Trade / All accounts / Activity & Orders" on Fidelity's website.
If you chose "All accounts" it will download a single CSV file for all your accounts.
- Use a helper spreadsheet to massage the downloaded CSV file into one compatible for importing into Fund Manager.
There are 2 helper spreadsheets, and you will use the one based on your downloaded CSV format.
The format is different based on whether your accounts have foreign currencies.
If your CSV has "Settlement Date" in column N, use this one.
If your CSV has "Settlement Date" in column R, use this one.
You will replace the sample data on the "Fidelity CSV" sheet with your downloaded CSV activity file and then save the "Fund Manager Import" sheet as a CSV file for importing.
See the "Instructions" sheet for more details.
Before importing the first time, verify your account numbers are recorded in Fund Manager the same as they downloaded in the CSV file.
The account numbers are in column C of the downloaded CSV file.
- Import the massaged .CSV file into Fund Manager using "File / Import / Transactions / Generic..."
with the "Input Format": MM/DD/YY,SYMB,ACCT,TRAN,ANUM,BNUM,CNUM,NAME,MEMO
Reconciling
- Download a CSV position file from "Accounts & Trade / All accounts / Positions" on Fidelity's website.
Use their default "Overview" template and press the icon with the 3 buttons and then "Download".
- Insert a column for the date in the leftmost column, and re-save the CSV file so it looks like this example position file.
- Open the Reconciliation Wizard and choose the account to reconcile (or right mouse click on a sub-portfolio, and choose "Reconcile...")
- For "Reconciliation Statement Source" choose "Generic Position File (*.CSV, *.TXT)"
- For "Statement File" browse to the re-saved CSV position file
- For the "Input Format" use: MM/DD/YY,ACCT,XX,SYMB,XX,BNUM,XX
