: When I attempt to click on an icon to open a portfolio I created earlier, I receive the message:

: The Investment File
: c:\ProgramFiles\FundManger\Autoback\KAR.dat

: specified in the program could not be found

: click cancel to not be notified about additional missing investments.

: Then a screen appears that asks:

: Would you like to remove from the portfolio the investments that could not be opened?

: --I have no idea how to deal with this. For starters, I DID NOT MOVE ANY FILES. I merely saved the portfolio prior to exiting the program. Also, a portfolio icon is readily seen when I open the File menu and the program appears to go through its rigamarole with about 20 or so frames that quickly flash through numerous screens containing portfolio performance data, for the saved portfolio, prior to the above notice.

Hi SteveS,

How/where are you clicking on an icon to open a portfolio? Is this from within the program, or are you double clicking on a file somewhere? I'm not sure of the state of things currently, but one thing is odd in that your investment file is trying to open from the autoback folder. You really shouldn't have any investments from this backup folder included in your portfolio.

I would suggest opening up your portfolio with "File / Open Portfolio..." from within Fund Manager. By default, your portfolios are stored in the "My_Data" folder beneath the Fund Manager folder, but they could have been saved anywhere when you first created them. Once you get your portfolio open you can see the location of all the investments in that portfolio using the Portfolio Editor, and looking in the "Location" column on the right. You can also create a Custom report with the "Path and filename" field to see all investments from all subportfolios at once. If any investments are coming from the autoback folder, I would hilight the investment in the Portfolio Editor, and do a "File / Save Investment As..." and re-save it to your regular data folder, not the autoback folder. Do a "File / Save Portfolio" after you re-point all these investment files.

Thanks,
Mark
