: I'm a new user, and I must be missing something. What is the straightforward way to retrieve historical data? I had assumed that the program might directly retrieve historical prices for securities in a portfolio, but some help topics imply that I need to import them. Other threads make don't seem to imply a multi-step process (download to a file then import). Can you please direct me to the proper place in the documentation for what to do? Thank you.

Hi Roger,

Retrieving is much faster/easier than importing, so you will probably want to use this method. You'll want to retrieve historical prices. To do this, set the server to "Yahoo (Historical)" under "Options / Internet Settings..." and then do a retrieve with "Edit / Internet Retrieve / Prices". You will be prompted for the date range you want to retrieve, and then FM will go get that historical pricing information for all your investments.

For documentation on the price retrieve feature, please see:

Thanks,
