: : : Hi Mark,

: : : For #1 above, can you please guide me as how can I enter a buy transaction at no cost to me. As the company is matching here at no cost to me.

: : : Thanks,

: : Hi SPS,

: : When recording the buy transaction, just enter the "Value" and "Price" at $0, and enter the number of shares acquired. It is perfectly fine to buy shares at a $0 cost.

: Great! For #2, can I hide the investment (assuming I have the company match as a seperate investment) in the reports as I don't have any of it vested yet. If not, it would be a nice feature to have it based on the vesting percentages. That could give an accurate representation what are the exact dollars you have that are truly yours in a 401(k) account.

: Thanks,

Hi SPS,

Yes, you can hide the investment (Investment Properties... / Other), but its value will still be included in the overall portfolio total. There really isn't a good way to tell FM you only own a certain percentage of the value you have recorded in FM. This would be a nice idea for a future version though...

If you own 0% of it now, you might consider putting it in a separate sub-portfolio, so that it doesn't get counted in the total for your "owned" sub-portfolio. For example, you could have a top level sub-portfolio called "All", and then a "owned" and "not vested" or something like that. This way, you could report on the "owned" to see your actual holdings, and still track the not vested investment. This won't help much once you own a non-zero percentage though...

Thanks,
Mark
