: Let me try to be clearer. In order to create a portfolio which would give me the value of all my holdings which are currently spread out into seven portfolios, one for each family member, trust, etc., I added all the files from every portfolio into one. Certain stocks like GE or GM or International Fibercom existed in 4 or 5 portfolios and now are represented 4 or 5 times in the master portfolio. When I update the prices only one instance of GM or GE will be updated. The others remain the same. If I reupdate another will be updated but not the first. In each update only one instance of the stock is updated. In prior versions a sign would indicate that "multiple instances of this stock are being updated".

Hi Art,
Okay, I think I understand now. You have multiple GM investment files, with
unique filenames, but they all have the same symbol, right? The way
an update should work is that all of them would be updated with a single
retrieve. How are you checking which ones are getting updated? You should
use "Edit/All Data..." with the "Prices" data type turned on. All of them
should get updated, but you will not receive any message about multiple
instances of a stock being updated. The only message that has ever been
like this is if you have multiple instances of the same file open, you
will get this message when you save your data. Also, you might try this
with another server to see if that makes a difference?

Thanks,
Mark
