Hi Mark
I've looked at the % gain-I formula and I've tried everything I can think of in custom reports to get the result I want, but nothing works.

All I really want is gain divided by OOP. In the case of one stock I have, the OOP is 20,328 and the gain is 3,576. I'm looking for a report that shows me a 17.6% gain. Portfolio performance shows me the proper OOP (invested), the proper gain, but computes a 7.78% gain. I find I'm asking myself, a 7.78% gain on what?

I am unschooled in the normal conventions of financial reports, but it seems that for my purposes, the % gain-I is unnecessarily complex and ultimately renders a number that I can't use. I've just recently realized that after using FM for many years, I've always had to do the gain divided by OOP calculations by hand. This and ROI yield are all that matter to me.

: : Maybe I'm looking for a report that doesn't exist. I would like a report that looks at how much I have invested, including multiple buys and sells, how much my position is worth now, and tells me the percent gain or loss. In my example above, an invested amount of $14,000 that is now worth $42,000 should show a gain of 200%. Is there no way to generate this simple but very useful report? I'm not looking to determine yield from this report, just a simple gain or loss.

: Hi Robert,

: I think you're looking for the following:

: Custom Report:
: - Out of pocket basis (current)
: - Value (ending)
: - Gain (current)
: - %Gain (current)

: The above report will show you what you're asking about. These fields will show your out of pocket cost for the shares currently held as of the ending report date, the present value, the gain, and a percentage gain. See the online help for more specifics on these fields.

: Thanks,
: Mark
