: Mark,
: Bought new computer so I downloaded 7.8 and transfered data. It copyed all data except for 2004 and later. Have no idea why I lost 2 1/2 years. So I am manually reloading data that was lost. This gave me a chance to look at the data much closer, and I noticed a curious problem. In a GIC account I post the quarterly income (interest)at $1.000/share and the enter the interest. When I get a print out of my Investment Transactions, of course the number of shares and number of dollars for the quarter always match. But when I look at the balance column, the number of shares is correct but the dollars are understated. This could happen if my share price was less than $1.0000, but it is not. I have re-entered this transaction several times, but it always understates the dollar balance.

: WHat am I doing wrong?

Hi Steve,

I'm not sure how part of your data could be lost, that shouldn't happen if you're copying the same investment files you were using on your old computer. Is it possible you are copying an older backup copy or something?

Regarding the transaction balance. The "Balance" column of this report can be confusing. It is not the balance after the specified transaction is accounted for, it is the balance as of the end of the day when that transaction occurred. Could that explain the difference in what you were expecting?

Thanks,
Mark
