Mark,

Well, I'm having trouble getting this data into Fund Manager.

Thus far, here's what I'm doing. If possible, please show me where I'm making mistakes and how I may remedy the errors.

I'm downloading the transactions onto my desktop in year-long increments. The files are dumped onto my desktop in csv format, but appear in the form of Excel spreadsheets. The data is organized with the following column headings: Date, Transaction, Description, Quantity, Symbol, Price, Commission, Amount, Sales, Fee.

Upon setting up a subportfolio (I saw your suggestion of creating all new portfolios after starting, and will go ahead and do that after I finish here), I chose Import -> Transactions -> Generic.

On the Generic Transaction Import window, I browse File to Import from the desktop to find the csv file with my client's name, and look for the import format that matches the above columns and it doesn't appear as one of the selections. What to do?

On import destination, under portfolio choice I select the client's subportfolio (because each client's portfolio is handled by FM as a subportfolio)?

I leave the Import All Transactions Into Specified Investment box blank. Is that ok?

I check the Create New Investments as Needed box. Is that ok?

Then, I receive notice that I must "either 'Specify' an investment, or have the 'SYMB' key in the format string." And that's as far as I've gotten, because what I've attempted to set up is illegal...
