: : I'm evaluating Fund Manager.

: : I created a new portfolio and attached a cash account. I entered an initial balance for the cash and recorded initial Buy transactions for five stocks. Cash was adjusted accordingly. Fine. Then I recorded two dividend transactions for the cash account (it's a money market account so it pays dividends too). The dividends were recorded correctly in cash but the balance (as displayed next to the portfolio editor) is incorrect. I also recorded two dividend transactions for two stocks, but these transactions never showed up in the cash account. Am I doing something wrong?

: : Question. Will Fund Manager automatically account for stock splits, spinoffs, name changes and other "corporate events"?

:
: Hi Yellow Dog,

: Did you record the cash dividend as reinvested? If not, the money is transferred out of your portfolio, since that cash account is assigned as the default cash account. Money in/out of the default cash account is transferred to any other investment, it just goes in/out of the portfolio. If the dividend was not reinvested, then the balance wouldn't change.

: Regarding the 2 stock dividends... If these were reinvested, they won't show up in the cash account. If they were not reinvested they should show up in the cash account. I would suggest using the Data Register (Edit / All Data...) and set the data type to "Investments All) and look in your cash account to see whether the corresponding transfers were really deposited into your cash account or not.

: Fund Manager doesn't 'automatically' adjust for these, but you can record them. There are 'split' transactions and spin-off events that you can record. The way you record these depends on the specifics of the corporate action.

: Thanks,
: Mark
