: : I have a problem I can't figure out:

: : I have a stock that has the following transactions:

: : Purchase 1000 shares on 3/15/04 for $136,978
: : Split 3 for 1 on 6/9/05
: : Sale of 1900 shares on 1/11/06 for $117,978 (proceeds)

: : Balance now of 1100 shares

: : The portfolio manager displays "OOP Current Basis" = $0.00

: : Why?

: : Also, if I try to look at a Capital Gains report to see what is happening, I do not see any sale transactions at all. (This is a non-taxable IRA account ... does that prevent transactions from appearing on the Capital Gains report?)

: : Jim Hanlon

: FOLLOW UP

: I found out how to display the Capital Gains Report and the average cost diplayed for the Sale transaction is $86,752.73. Still wondering why the OOP Current Basis is $zero.

Hi Jim,

I suspect something isn't recorded quite right... I recorded the above into a new investment, and the Portfolio Editor correctly showed a OOP Current Basis of $50,225.27. This is (1100 / 3000) * $136,978 = $50,225.27.

Please use the "Data Register" to view your recorded transactions and make sure everything is recorded as described above. If you can't find anything wrong, you can email me your investment file, and I can take a look.

Thanks,
Mark
