: I'm attempting to import transactions to the latest FM (downloaded yesterday) from Quicken 2005 Basic. I exported all the transactions from my brokerage account in Quicken to a QIF file and checked the "Transactions", "Account List", and "Security Lists" for the export. Then I imported the file into an empty portfolio with the import options "Single File", "All Securites", "All Dates", "With Matching...", "Create New Sub-Portfolios As Needed", Skip Transactions Already in FM", "Create New Investments as Needed", "Automatically Record Corresponding Entries in Default Cash Account".

: All the transactions were imported correctly for mutual funds, ETFs, stocks, and options, and the positions for all of the above were correct, including short sales, stock and ETF dividends, and reinvestment of mutual fund distributions. I was impressed. However, the balance of my cash account is way off. I investigated further and determined that several transaction types that are in the QIF file were not imported into FM. The transaction types that were not imported are IntInc, MargInt, Cash, XIn, XOut. Did I make a mistake in the import or do I have to manually enter all of these transactions?

: In either case, how should these transactions be recorded? I'm guessing that deposits and withdrawals (XIn, XOut, Cash tx types) should be entered as purchases and redemptions of shares of the default cash investment and that IntInc and MargInt should be entered as distributions of type Interest Income and Account Fee, respectively. I'm also guessing that for both types of interest transactions I want the "Reinvested" box checked. Are my guesses right? Did I miss part of the tutorial or online help that talks about how these cash transactions are typically recorded?

: Thanks in Advance.

Hi Craig,

All of your assumptions/guesses above are correct. Fund Manager doesn't support some of the cash account only transactions. For example, if you look at the QIF file, the transactions without a 'Y' line will always be skipped. The 'Y' field is the name of the security for that transaction. We should just dump all of these into the default cash account if you choose to use one. This is on our to-do list to improve.

Thanks,
Mark
