: I recognize that this may not be a FM problem but I thought I would throw it out here in hopes that somebody can help. I recently got a new computer with Windows Vista on it. The Vista is giving me fits but thats another problem that I had better not get into here.
: I reinstalled FM on the computer and have been having a problem with an error message that I get when I try to close the program. It tells me that it can't run autobackup because I have backup files open. It prompts me for an O.K. to go ahead with with the shut down which it does with no further problems.
: I don't understand why these files should be open when I haven't been accessing them.
: Any ideas on what to do?? I'm out of them.

Hi Willis,

It sounds like you have some files opened out of the auto backup folder. This isn't a good situation, which should be corrected.

First, check where your auto backup folder is, by looking at "Options / Preferences... / Data". Next, make sure you don't have any files open from that folder. You can use the "Location" field in the Portfolio Editor, or you can create a Custom report with "Path and filename".

Once you find which investments are open from there, close them, and re-open them from any other folder, where you are storing your data files.

Thanks,
Mark
