: Just started using FM. I followed the tutorial on importing historical transactions to set up my portfolio. Importing Vanguard mutual fund transactions, but only last 2 years of data available for download. Total portfolio value is way low. Why are current positions inaccurate and how do I adjust them?

Hi Wendell,

Your current share balance is determined by a combination of all prior recorded transactions. Since Vanguard's OFX server only provides the last 2 years worth of transactions, your balances will be off by whatever you owned as of 2 years ago. You can import or manually enter all your transactions more than 2 years old. Alternatively, you can enter a single purchase dated 2 years ago for the amount of shares you owned 2 years ago. Entering all of the transactions individually is more accurate if you want historical performance numbers for this time period (2 or more years ago...).

Thanks,
Mark
