: I am considering purchase of your software. I am using Fund Master (FundPro) - company went out of business many years ago but the program is great. I have a few questions.

: 1. Are there any users that have used Fund Master that can give me a comparison to the two products?

: 2. I download weekly prices each Sat. Does your program adjust historical prices after every distribution for each fund I am tracking or does that have to be done manually?

: 3. I have my own performance ranking formula, which basically adds multiple return periods (ie, 4 week return + 6 week return, etc.) Is there a way to use your programs easily accomplish this and can that be saved so that after each download it will automatically update the calculation to the current data?

: 4. Does it calculate any moving averages that I want?

: 5. Does it risk ratings and based on what formula?

: 6. If I decide to explore this further, is there someone I can talk to about other questions.

: Thanks.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for considering Fund Manager. I've not used Fund Master, so couldn't offer a direct comparison.

1) I don't know the answer to this one.

2) Adjust the prices for what purpose? Fund Manager does not automatically back adjust any pricing data. It does however do plots with the "Price plus distributions", so that distributions are included in the graphical performance.

3) Sorry, no, you can't define your own performance fields. You can create custom reports and memorize them for easy re-creation, but you can only choose from the available fields, there are a lot of fields to choose from, but probably not the exact one you've described.

4) Yes, you can calculate moving averages over any time period you define. You can plot them, or get the numbers in a report. You can do simple or exponential moving averages in the Professional or above versions.

5) It calculates Beta, Correlation, and Sharpe Ratio using the standard formulas for these. You can choose the comparison period, and the benchmark. These figures are also only in the Professional and Advisor versions (not Personal).

6) Yes, you can reply here, send us an email, or call us on the phone during normal business hours.

If you didn't notice, you can also download a fully functional evaluation version of the program from our website.

Thanks,
Mark
