: : : : Fund Manager 8.2

: : : : Repeated failure to update imported transactions. I have 14 transactions of 4 different stocks from Ameritrade Legacy that repeatedly show up in the Preview Importing Transactions screen when importing transactions. This also occurs in other portfolios that also have the stock listed.

: : : : Select All and Automatically Record in Default Cash Account are checked. They are all Reinvestments and show shares that should be credited along with all having 2006 dates.

: : : : I have tried manually entering the transactions in different forms as well as going into the My_Data folder and deleting the record for that account and re-downloading the stock entirely. To date I have not had success at finding a solution to this problem.

: : : Hi Glenn,

: : : Is the problem that these transactions are already in your investments, but they still keep getting retrieved and end up as duplicates? If so, please check that on the first retrieve page, you have the option to "Skip Transactions Already In Fund Manager" checked.

: : : I may have missed the essence of your problem. If so, please try to clarify for me.

: : : Thanks,

: : Mark,

: : No duplicates and I have utilized the "Skip Transaction" feature to no avail.

: : Examination of the "ofxmemtrandump.txt" file that was generated reveals that the problem stock entries have a "Type: Reinvested Dividend" common to the problem stocks.

: : Looking at all of the rest of the info reveals that the other proper entries have either a Buy, Sell, or Dividend as the type. I don't know what all of the types there are but I am beginning to think that there is most probably not a type of Reinvested Dividend and the trade is being mis-classified.

: : If you would like to have that dump file forwarded (less personal info) to you please advise.

: Hi Glenn,

: Can you clarify what is wrong? I've missed the basic problem you're experiencing. Are you stating that when you retrieve transactions, some transactions are not showing up in the Preview dialog that should be? Or, are you stating that these transactions show up in the Preview dialog, but don't get imported into your investments?

: Thanks,
: Mark

Hi Mark,

It is my hope that I can explain this to your understanding. The transactions repeatedly show up in the Preview dialog but do not update or clear. After working with the problem I have concluded that the problem is not created by your software but lies with the brokerage account. I have manually posted the entries in the correct accounts and reconciled for the year 2006 resulting in balanced accounts for the year of 2006. The reconcilation would show balanced but the next time you used the update transactions there would be the same entries to be downloaded.

By setting the date of transaction retrieves to a date 01/01/2007 completely removes the problem from the current posting. The problems showed up at the change over of the 2006-2007 year. The brokerage firm, TD Ameritrade, was going through a merger period and evidently there were problems of the accounting procedures as these accounts had corrections posted to them in all of the accounts involved. I again refer back to the above TYPE reference. There are other problems, such as not posting the interest earned on the Money Market account as a downloadable event.

I think Murphy somehow or other got involved with "If it can go wrong, it will"

Thanks for bearing with me.

Glenn
