: : : : When I update my prices from the Internet, I get the following message from Fund Manager: "Other ShellExecute Error". Then nothing move. I can't even close the error window and have to force quit the program. The last time I did that, my system exited Windows and shut itself off.

: : : : I am using FM v 4.7.237, INTENG4X.DLL version 237 under Windows 98 SE.

: : : : I noticed also that when I go to FM Help and click on any of the hyperlinks, I get the same message, unless my browser (IE5) is already open, in which case the hyperlinks take me to the right page without errors.

: : : Hi Mike,
: : : This sounds like your browser is not quite configured to open URLs from
: : : the command line. What happens if you go to "Start/Run..." and type in
: : : a URL like:

: : : http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com

: : : while your browser is not already open?

: : : Thanks,
: : : Mark

: :
: : When I do that, IE5 opens and takes me right to that site, as it should.

: Does this crash happen every time you retrieve prices? When does it happen,
: as soon as you select to do a retrieve, or when? Fund Manager does not
: run a ShellExecute as part of the internet retrieve process.
: It does use this when trying to take you to a web site with your browser.
: Has it ever worked for you?

: Thanks,
: Mark

Yes, it has worked, and in fact is now working again. The error has vanished, seemingly of it's own accord. Oh well, as long as it works.

Mike
