Further info: FM seems to take a long time to "look up" the host. With 80+ equities being retrieved total and with with 8 per retrieve, its takes about 20 seconds to look up the host and only a second or less to retrieve each "pack" of 8. At least this is what the screen within FM seems to indicate. Downloading historical data is much longer as it has to "look up the host" for each equity individually. This is the area that seems to be the problem.
: Recently Connected to internet via Gilat2home 2 way satellite system (sends back to satellite also). Local computers are connected to this sytem via a proxy host. Changed fund manager to retrieve quotes via a proxy server. Using Yahoo and Yahoo historical. It does work, but it is extremely slow--many times slower than my phone modem. Yet the satellite system shows download bit rates of 300-500 kbps. Any ideas as to what is causing this?
