: : : : : Since 11/8/00 I've been having difficulties retrieving prices from the ASX.
: : : : : I downloaded the new version when it became available last week but I still can't get prices for some stocks which used to be OK.

: : : : : Examples:
: : : : : SMEHB
: : : : : CPA
: : : : : MLB
: : : : : SSX
: : : : : SSXPA
: : : : : SMPG
: : : : : BWP

: : : : : Can anyone shed any light on this?

: : : : : TIA.

: : : : Hi Roger,
: : : : Please check to make sure you have version 231 of the DLL under "Help/About...".
: : : : I just did a test retrieve with "MLB", and it worked properly.
: : : : If you really do have 231, then can you tell us if it ever works?
: : : : Does it depend what time of day you try and retrieve?

: : : : Thanks,

: : : Hi Mark,

: : : MLB has never worked for me.
: : : It follows two unlisted companies in the portfolio. They have no ASX codes.
: : : Could that have any bearing?
: : : CPA last worked on 11/8/2000. It does not follow any unlisted stocks.

: : : Thanks for your interest.
: : : Roger

: : Hi Mark,
: : I have discovered a typing error in my version of MLB it was typed ML;B In the font Fund Manager uses it was not apparent. I noticed it in the Investment Properties > Other screen which uses a different font. Sorry about that.

: : This has had the effect of fixing up most of the errors although I still have problems with the Suncorp Metway stocks which are:
: : SMEHB and SMPG.

: : I have tried to get these directly from the ASX and they come up OK.
: : I have tried setting up a new portfolio with just these stocks in it and it fails.
: : Both of these used to work until 11/8/00.

: : Regards
: : Roger

: Hi Roger,
: It appears this type of investment (SMPG) is displayed with a different format
: than regular stocks. You'll notice the column order is different. I wonder
: if this is the case for all "interest rate securities"? What is an interest
: rate security?

: Thanks,
: Mark

Hi Mark,

Until 11/8/2000 they worked, as I said. The ASX must've changed the format on that date.

An interest rate security is a stock which pays a fixed or variable rate of interest until it matures when it converts to a normal share. It's capital value however varies as a normal stock.

Regards
Roger
