"Read-only" files

Hi Mark - I just transferred my data files to a new computer. I can download updates but I cannot save the downloaded data because all files have now been set to read-only. There is no info on "files" or "read-only" in the help index. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks - Mike F.
