: Hi Mark,

: I have Bell Atlantic (BEL) in two portfolios with BEL.dat and BEL1.dat in the investment files. Yesterday it became Verizon Communications (VZ). I've used the Edit/Properties to change the name and symbol for both investments. Is it also advisable or necessary to change the .dat files to VZ.dat and VZ1.dat by right clicking on the files and using "Rename"? If so how might this affect the portfolios to which they belong?

: One last thing, do you think it might be time to "archive" some of the message board, given the time that it takes to load the full board?

: As always, thanks for the help and for the great program!

: Wyatt

Hi Wyatt,
You can change their filenames if you wish. It doesn't matter to FM,
but it may be helpful to yourself in the future. If you do change their
filenames you would have to make this change in your portfolio as well.
You could do it like this:

1) Open FM, and close these investments, and then save your portfolio
(this removes them from the portfolio)

2) Go into Windows Explorer and rename the files

3) Go back to FM and open the renamed investments, and then save your
portfolio again (this adds them back into the portfolio).

Yes, you are right, it is about time to archive some old messages...

Thanks,
Mark
