: : I like the new program! You're doing a great job, keep it up!!

: : anyway.. here's my "problem"... when running the "Portfoio Performance" the % Gain - I does not calculate in one instance: if the begining value is 0 then the result is N.A.

: : If I invest money on Jan 1 and run the report from Jan 1 the beginning value is 0. I must run the report from the Jan 2 to produce the calc in the % Gain I column. When I have more than one investment in a portfolio (and I mutliple portfolios with multiple investments) this creates an even bigger problem since I have to select a date which will produce a value in the beginning value column, yet by doing that I may lose distributions and purchases.

: : Any way around this?

: : thanks !! :-D)

: Hi Melody,
: Thanks, you're right, there seems to be a problem here with the date synchronization on the
: starting report date. We'll fix that...

: Thanks,
: Mark

Hi Melody,
I just realized the reason for this... (I've
got to get use to the new version myself... ;))
The %Gain-I formula was changed. It now divides
by the beginning value, rather than the "purchases". This will usually cause the %Gain-I
values to appear higher. The problem with %gain numbers in general, as opposed to yields, is that they don't factor in the time value of money, so in some instances, it is more reasonable to divide
by the beg value plus purchases, and in some instances
it is better to divide by just beg value. I hate
to add yet another "option", but maybe it warrants
it in this case....

Thanks,
Mark
