: If you'd prefer creating a fake portfolio, open the file menu and then open all the investments, one at a time, that you want included in your fake portfolio. Then select save from the file menu. You will then be asked for a portfolio name. I don't see much to gain by this method. You'll still have the same problem of undoing all your hypothetical transactions once you're done playing with the data to return the fake portfolio to its original status.

: There's really not much danger in copying your "my_data" file to a diskette or another folder and then copying it back. I copy my "my_data" file out to a diskette several times a week as a safety precaution against entering invalid data by mistake, or some other error that is difficult to correct or undo. I've had to copy the file back several times to recover my original, correct data. Go for it - it's the easiest way.

Paul,
I would agree with Ron that copying the my_data folder is probably the best/easiest way. There is one other tip that you could use also. If you are doing all the what-if scenarios in a single session, you can just turn off "Options/Save Data on Exit" before quiting FM. That way you won't save any of your changes while doing the what-if's. Of course if you made any other changes those wouldn't be saved either...

Thanks,
Mark
