Report Preferences - General Dialog

This dialog is available from the Options / Report Preferences... menu command under any Report window.

This dialog page allows you to specify preferences on how all reports are displayed. The following options are available:

Display:

Display Alternate Lines With Shading

Controls whether or not to shade alternate lines. The shading color is adjustable under the Report Colors Dialog.

Hot Highlight

Controls whether each line is surrounded with a line box as the cursor moves over that line.

Display Cents for Dollar Values

Toggle on/off cents when displaying dollar values.

Use Commas in Numbers

Toggle on/off the use of commas in values greater than or equal to 1000. (ex: 1000 versus 1,000)

Display Price/Value Fields With Currency

Displays the currency symbol with any price or value type field.  How the currency label is displayed (whether before or after the value, and whether there is a space) is controlled by your currency format preference setting in the Windows Control Panel.

Display Percent Fields with %

Displays a percent sign after any number that is a percentage

Update Investment Stack When Sorting Reports

When sorting a report using any of the top level Sort menu commands the investment stack order will also be updated to match the sorted order.  Leave this option off to keep the investment stack order unchanged due to report sorting.

Auto-Size Columns When Report Data Changes

Whenever report data is calculated, the column widths are automatically sized to fit their contents, such that there is no extra white space, and no data truncation.  When this option is turned off you can use Window / Auto-Size Columns as desired.

Show Asterisk When Interpolating Price

Displayed prices or yields that used an interpolated price will have an asterisk shown next to them.  (Advisor only option.  This option is always on in the Personal and Professional versions)

Symbol Lines Labeled As:

When listing or subtotaling by symbols these report lines will be labeled (first column) with either the Symbol or the Investment Description.  The Investment Description format can be adjusted in the General Preferences Dialog.

Share Decimal Places to Display

The number of digits to the right of the decimal point to display when showing share based values. This value must be between 0 and 8.

Price Decimal Places to Display

The number of digits to the right of the decimal point to display when showing share price based values. This value must be between 0 and 8.  (To control the decimal places for percentages, see the General Preferences - Display Dialog).

Investment Display:

The following options only apply when View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios is turned off.  When View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios is turned on, all investments are always displayed.

Display Hidden Investments with Activity

Any investment that is marked as hidden will still be displayed if there are shares owned or transaction activity in that hidden investment within the report date range(s).  This option should normally be left on.

Do Not Display Investments With Zero Share Balance:

These options only affect non-hidden investments.  Use these options to prevent investments you do not own from being displayed in reports.  Investments that you do not own are treated as if they were marked as hidden.  (When the option View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios is checked, all investments are always shown, and this option is ignored.  This option is only in meaningful when View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios is un-checked.)  This feature does not modify the 'hidden' property of any investment, but it works as if sold investments were marked as hidden.

Never (show all investments)

All investments are displayed, even sold ones.  Investments marked as 'hidden' are still not displayed when View / Hidden Investments/Portfolios is turned off.

On Ending Report Date

Investments with a zero share balance on the ending report date are considered sold, and will not be displayed when this option is selected.  This option is a less stringent definition of 'sold' than the "Over Entire Report Date Range" option.

Over Entire Report Date Range

Investments with a zero share balance over the entire date range of the report are considered sold, and will not be displayed.  If an investment ever owns any shares during the report date range, it will not be considered sold when using this option.  For report types that only have an 'ending' date, such as the Portfolio Value report, only the ending date is considered when determining whether an investment is sold or not.
