Copying and Pasting Prices and Transactions

Transaction and pricing data can be copied and pasted among investments.  This is done within the Data Register.

To copy data onto the clipboard, select the prices or transactions you wish to copy.  You can use the Shift and Ctrl keys to select multiple prices/transactions.  After the data is selected, press Ctrl+C on your keyboard or right mouse click and choose Copy from the popup menu.

To paste data from the clipboard, switch to the desired destination investment and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard or right mouse click and choose Paste from the popup menu.  An optional dialog will be displayed showing the data you are about to paste.  If the destination investment is in a sub-portfolio that is using a default cash account you can choose to "Record Corresponding Entries in Default Cash Account".  When this option is checked, a corresponding entry will be made in the default cash account for every pasted transaction that uses or generates cash.  To not display this dialog again in the future, turn off the option "Show This Dialog When Pasting".  You can also control whether this pasting dialog is displayed in the Preferences - Other Dialog.

A Paste Special - Today command is also available.  It works similar to the regular Paste, but will record all pasted data for the current date (today), instead of the original date of the copied data.  This command works on all data types, excpet Alerts, which will retain the original dates.
