Does FM always get cusip from "Retrieve Transactions" ?

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby modelerMike » Fri Feb 15, 2013 10:31 am

Does FM get the cusip for every transaction it gets from the automated ‘Retreive Transactions’ interface?
I ask because I am trying to track down why a given transactions seems to have an older cusip for a given ticker and not the current cusip
as of the transaction date.

Also, I tried to recreate the ‘transactions report’ using the custom report fields but ‘price’ used in the transactions report did not seem to be available.
I wanted to replicate the transactions report using the custom report builder in order to be able to add cusip to the transaction report.

Minor gripe; when in the transaction report and selecting specific investments , the field provided showing the name of all the securities is a fixed length
and that can make similar long named securities impossible to distinguish.
That is, for this transactions report by security feature, it would be nice to be able to do it by ticker or cusip instead of the potentially much longer name field.

Regards,

Hi Mike,

The CUSIP is a property of an "investment", it is not associated with any particular "transaction". An investment can have any number of transactions. When you retrieve transactions, any new investments will be created with the CUSIP as provided by your broker. When updating existing investments, new retrieved transactions are matched up with existing investments by this CUSIP property.

You can't re-create the "Investment Transactions" report with a "Custom" report. The Investment Transaction report lists by transaction. The Custom report can list by a variety of items, like Investment, Symbol, etc, but not at the transaction level.

In the Investment Transaction report, you should be able to re-size any column. None of them are fixed in width. Just click/drag the column divider in the header area. If you go to "Report Preferences... / Investment Transaction" you can customize the "Investment Description" column to be the name, symbol, or a combination of both.
Thanks,
Mark
