Restoring my Portfolio

Comments, critical feedback, praise, or suggestions for new features.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your assistance this morning in restoring my portfolio. I noticed that after this action a new FM folder was created outside My Documents folder which contains only .dat files. The FM folder inside My Documents folder contains autoback, samples and .dat files.
My question is, can I delete the FM folder which is outside My Documents folder or do I need to keep it?

Thank you
Bob

Hi Bob,

It sounds like maybe some of your investment files are being stored in that folder. I would suggest doing this:

1) Use "File / File Operations / Set Data Location..." and set it to your "Libraries \ Documents \ My Documents \ Fund Manager" folder.

2) Once you successfully do #1 you can delete the other folder containing your *.dat files. They will now all be stored in the location you set in step #1.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark,

I followed your recommendation and it now shows that the data goes to the correct FM folder.
Does this mean that FM back-ups will go to Autoback in the same FM folder as well?

Hi Bob,

Not necessarily... You can check/adjust the backup location by going to "Options / General Preferences... / Data".
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark,

I checked that and it shows the correct path to the FM folder.
