Hi Harsh,
It is not a good practice to have to run FM as administrator. You have to do this when your data is stored in a non-standard place, like Program Files or in the root of the C drive. You should get all your data into the "My Documents \ Fund Manager" folder, and then run FM regularly (not as administrator).
It sounds like you had data stored in multiple folders on your old computer. What can happen is if you have the same named file stored in 2 different folders, and then you restore that to a single new folder, you will get a filename conflict. To fix this, go to your old computer, and get all your data stored into a single folder, or at least give all your investments unique filenames. Alternatively, if you intended to set up your investments in different folders, copy the whole folder structure to your new computer. If you do this, you can't use FM's backup/restore feature.
Method 1: On the old computer, add "Location" to the Portfolio Editor list view, so you can see where all your investments are being stored. For any investments that are not stored in the 1 folder you want, select the investment, and choose "File / Save Investment As..." and switch it to be saved in the 1 folder. Repeat until all investments are saved in the same folder. Now you can do the backup on this computer, and restore it to a specified folder on your new computer.
Method 2: If you have all your data in multiple folders and want to keep it that way, use Windows Explorer to copy all the folders/data that contain your *.mm4 and *.dat files to your new computer, maintaining the same folder hierarchy.
It is usually easiest if you just save all your data in a single folder (Method 1).
