best way to handle stock merged from one acct to another?

I have Janus 20 stock that has merged with Janus 40 and Janus 20 no longer exists. What is the best way to handle this transfer? I'm not sure what happens using the 'transfer out' feature. I don't see a way to sell janus 20 and buy janus 40.

Record a split with the ratio of <new_shares> for <old_shares> and then change the name/symbol.
