: : : : : Hi Mark,
: : : : : Ive just installed and registered FM6.
: : : : : When I try to jump to your website from the help menu, I see a box saying that the site was not accessible and that "this feature requires a web browser to be installed on your computer and that your shell be configured to open URLs"

: : : : : Given that the problem is mine and not in FM6, what would you suggest is the matter here?
: : : : : IE5.5 is already installed and working.
: : : : : I am running Windows 95c
: : : : : I can log on to your site from within IE5.
: : : : : I can jump to your site when I click on your web address shown in an email from you.
: : : : : I can jump to any web site shown in emails when I click on the respective addresses.
: : : : : I can download price updates from the internet using FM6.
: : : : : I cannot jump to your web site from within FM6. I get that message about a shell and URLs.
: : : : : I have looked in the Windows Help pages and can find no reference to shells or URLs.
: : : : : In my "Internet Properties", "Programs", The box is ticked beside "IE should check to see if it is the default browser"
: : : : : Maybe the problem is in FM6.

: : : : : Over to you.
: : : : : Cheers
: : : : : Roger

: : : : Hi Roger,

: : : : What if you try this:

: : : : Start/Run...

: : : : and type in:

: : : : http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/

: : : : Enter

: : : : Does the browswer open up this URL?

: : : : Thanks,
: : : : Mark

: : : Hi Mark,
: : : you are right on to it! I get a message telling me to associate this file with a program. Then it says go to "My computer, "View", "Folder options" and create an association. Unfortunately, the message did not provide further assistance.
: : : As this is a problem in my computer and not FM6, I should be now seeking help from some other source. However if the creation process is easily explained, I would be most grateful for any advice you can provide.
: : : Cheers
: : : Roger

: : Hi Roger,

: : I'm not exactly sure how to manually set this up. I believe on newer OS's
: : this association is already made in the shell. I would have guessed that
: : when you installed IE5 this would have set up this association for you...

: : If you don't get it configured it doesn't change the functionality of FM,
: : it just removes the convenience of being able to quickly get to certain
: : pages on our web site.

: : Thanks,
: : Mark

: Hi Mark,
: Fixed!!!
: I edited "URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol" to make IE the default opener.
: The advice came from the Microsoft site. Thanks for your input.
: Cheers

Hi Roger,

Great! Thanks for sharing that. I'll have to remember this one in case
anyone else runs across this.

Thanks,
Mark
