: : : hi Mark

: : : I have been having a problem with yahoo hist stock splits not automatically making the adjustment. I dont think it is with the data from yahoo although I sometime see a bad chart on yahoo. Example is LOW which split last year. FM retreeved the spit and placed a marker on the chart but prior data is not adjusted correctly (the adjust for splits flag is On) so the chart still shows the sudden drop in price. This has always worked fine for me (2 yrs) but it seems the problem croped up a few months ago (maybe with a new data fetch ddl).

: : : If there is a bug fix on this let me know. I use NT4.0SP6a.

: : : thanks,Fred C.

: : Hi Fred,

: : I see this problem for the example you provided. It seems the data on Yahoo
: : is incorrect. From the URL:

: : http://table.finance.yahoo.com/d?a=2&b=3&c=2001&d=5&e=7&f=2002&s=low&y=200&g=d

: : the data shows:

: : Date Open High Low Close Volume Adj.Close*
: : 3-Jul-01 37.42 37.49 36.96 37.00 2,591,300 36.94
: : 2-Jul-01 2:1 Stock Split (before market open)
: : 2-Jul-01 74.30 78.17 73.60 74.14 4,159,300 37.01
: : 29-Jun-01 147.96 147.96 145.10 145.10 3,612,900 36.22

: : It looks like the data is split twice, or a 4:1 split happened. Do you know
: : what it is suppose to look like?

: : I've sent an e-mail to Yahoo asking them about this, maybe they have
: : a known problem that will get resolved by them.

: : Thanks,
: : Mark

: Mark, thanks for the quick reply. Looking at the data you list it seems to me that the june-29-01 line is hosed, it should looked similar the july-2-01 line.
: The Adjusted Close value is correct though. The stock has split 2:1 two other times in its history so they have a problem with the pre-split values in their database. It least that is what it looks like to me. I'm seeing this problem on a lot of stocks at yahoo for some time now. Hope they clean it up because it throws everything off. Can you recommend another free data source I can use
: to download clean data for those stocks that are hosed on yahoo hist? Thanks
: for your help. FC

Hi Fred,

You can try the Dreyfus Historical server until this gets resolved. I did
receive a reply from Yahoo and they said they would have an engineer
refresh the data for that stock. Maybe this will trigger them discovering
the problem is more widespread. Do you have other examples of ticker symbols
that are messed up?

Thanks,
Mark
