: : : Hi,

: : : Prices in the Greek stock market have changed (as of today) from Drachmas to Euros. Is there a way to convert all historical data, using a fixed exchange rate, so that I can keep updating the investment files and not lose the history?

: : : Thanks

: : Hi Agis,
: : Do you have the same number of shares, or did it scale? If it scaled with
: : the ratio of the price, you can use a split. Otherwise, you could use
: : one of the currency settings to adjust your historical data versus new
: : prices. The exchange rate would be different as of today. You would need
: : to create/assign an exchange rate investment. The other option is to export
: : your prices, multiply them in Excel or something, and then re-import them.

: : Thanks,

: Thanks Mark,

: Using a spreadsheet is almost impossible, as I have about 350 investments, and cannot do it manually.
: I tried to follow your aother aporach, but got stuck
: What I want to do is this: Convert all investments (including the cash account) to EUR and start updating prices in EUR. Is there an easier way?

: Thank you,
: Agis

Hi Agis,
There is no good way to convert currencies in the middle of an investment.
You could use the currency method to handle this. What part did you get stuck
on? The basic idea is that since the currency is changing in the middle
you assign one of your currencies to handle all investments under this situation.
You would create/assign an exchange rate investment (Options/Currency Settings...".
This exchange rate will have one value while the investments were under
the old currency and another value while they are under the new currency.

Thanks,
Mark
