Error retrieving new modules

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

FM is prompting me to update my quote module and my transaction module.
However when I attempt to do this I receive an error message with "fmadmin.txt" file ?
Please advise.

Hi rupertpage,

What does the complete error message say? If it is telling you about a permission denied error when writing to that log file, please check your user's "AppData \ Roaming \ Fund Manager" folder and if that file is there, just delete it. That should clear up any permission problems for that file.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi rupertpage,

After you attempt the module update is the fmadmin.txt file located in your "AppData \ Roaming \ Fund Manager" folder?

Are you maybe getting prompted to run the update as an admin and then logging in as a different user than the user running Fund Manager?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
After attempting the update the fmadmin.txt file is in the AppData / Roaming/ Fund Manager folder.

When I attempt to run the update module from my user id " Rupert" I get prompted to run the update as admin (which I do). I do not log as a different user. I do not exit this user at all I just get the windows prompt screen for the admin password. After entering this I then get the error message.

Hi rupertpage,

I believe you are being prompted for the admin account's password, and not the current password for your Rupert account. You are effectively changing accounts between the user running Fund Manager and the user with the admin permissions. Try logging in as an admin user initially, and running Fund Manager from that account.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Mark

That worked. I am sure the problem is something to do with Windows setup. Interestsingly when I returned to the RUPERT user it was still using quote module 423 but it allowed me to update to quote module 424 this time.

Excellent backup for this excellent programme! Thankyou. :)
