1 check received contains interest on multiple investments

Hi Mark

We receive interest payments related to several different loan participation investments. It is not uncommon for us to receive one check containing interest payments on multiple loans, rather than receiving separate interest checks for each investment.

We record the interest received in each investment. We have a cash default associated with the loan participations portfolio. Is there anyway to have the interest payments hit the cash default account as one amount (to correspond to the actual check deposited), rather than separate amounts.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

If you use the default cash account feature to record the cash, you can't do this. You could however not use the default cash account feature, and just record both the cash side with a single deposit, and the interest sides of the transactions.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

For some investments in the sub portfolio using the cash default account is suitable. For others we can do as you say. Is there any other way to toggle between on/off on the cash default account? I currently right click on the sub portfolio and choose properties to select the cash default account. Also, is there another way to quickly identify what cash default account is selected for a particular portfolio? If I'm toggling b/w on and off, it would be nice to be able to see quickly what the cash default account is set to.

Thanks.

Michael

Hi Michael,

The way you are doing it is correct. There is no shortcut for toggling on/off the default cash account. You can add the "Default Cash Account" field to the Portfolio Editor window. Select "View / List Columns..." and put a check mark next to this field. It will show you what is currently selected as the default cash account.
Thanks,
Mark

Perfect. Will include "Cash default account" as a column on porftolio editor. Thanks.
