Cash Investment for multiple contributors

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi Mark,

I am running a money market portfolio for a company. It is for the pension contribution for employees within the company. Each staff makes a monthly contribution to the main portfolio and the bulk sum is invested in a money market product. I just downloaded your software and I would appreciate a heads up on how to set it up to manage such an investment.

Some key questions I have are:

1.How do I link the individual contributions from the sub-portfolio to the main portfolio??
2. How do I add to the monthly contributions in each portfolio such that it adds up to the main portfolio.

At the end of every month, I would periodically update the main portfolio with new valuations and would expect that the subportfolios portfolio values would add up to the new valuations based on contributions.

I also expect to be able to generate client statements for each sub- portfolio as well as the main portfolio.

Regards.
Yemi

Hi Yemi,

Fund Manager isn't designed for something like this, where you have invested pooled money. Despite the product's name, it isn't for managing a mutual fund. It is for tracking fully owned investments. The valuation of the higher level sub-portfolios are simply a combination of all the included lower level ones. A typical scenario is something like this:

Code: Select all
- Manager Business Name
  - Client 1
    - Acct 1
    - Acct 2
  - Client 2
    - Acct 3
    - Acct 4

where the account level sub-portfolios contain fully owned investments. You can then report at the account, client, or whole combined holdings level.
Thanks,
Mark
