Bloomberg Ticker for Korean Stocks

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby realbg » Fri May 14, 2010 12:08 am

Hello,

I have added Korean stocks to portfolio but if I click "HST" button to retrieve historical prices, it would update the prices of US and Japanese stocks, but not Korean stocks.

I added Hyundai Motor and entered "005380:KS" as Symbol. It seems to be the right symbol. (Please see http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?T=quote.wm&ticker=005380:KS)

Could you please investigate this problem for me?

Thank you.

Hi realbg,

I just tested retrieving the symbol 005380:KS from both Bloomberg and Bloomberg (Historical) and both were successful. Are you sure you have your quote server set to Bloomberg? See "Options / Internet Settings...". Also, check the symbol and internet retrieve investment properties for your investment. For more, see:

Thanks, Mark.

It is really strange. I checked Options -> Internet setting and everything is correct. Also, when I click HST the pop-up window says it is retrieving from Bloomberg (Historical). Any other possible cause for this problem?
Thank you.

Hi realbg,

Did you check that investment's internet retrieve properties?

Are you looking at the prices in the Data Register under the "Prices" data type?

Did you double check the recorded symbol?

Are you using the most recent quote module (418)?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark -

The investment did not have internet retrieve property checked. That was the problem. Could you tell me how to make this checked by default for new investment I add? This used to be default and I didn't have to check this box each time before. I recently had to format my computer and reinstall Fund Manager, and since then it seems the default settings have changed. Again, many thanks.

Hi realbg,

The option to retrieve investments is turned on by default for all investment types, except cash. If you create a new cash type investment, this option will default to off, since you don't normally retrieve prices for a cash investment.

Another way it could have been turned off is if you used "File / File Operations / Hide Sold Investments..." and turned on the option to "Turn off price retrieve for sold investments".
Thanks,
Mark

It was my fault. I chose "Cash" instead of "Stock."
Thank you for your kind instructions.
Wish you a good weekend.
