Moving average last data point

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager graphs.

Hi Mark,

In a MA Overlay graph type, if you select a date range with a end date set in the future, then the MAs are converging to the price line:

Same behavior by the way if the end date is today but the last recorded price of the investment is older:

I wonder why this behavior. It seems to me that it would be better if the SMAs could remain horizontal straight lines from the last recorded price, like the price line.

The reason I ask too is that the rendering is particularly weird, and probably undesirable, when the step line option is on. See the end date of the graph, the melting of the SMAs and price line in a vertical way:

Hi Djobydjoba,

When you do this you are asking for these items to be plotted into the future, so FM is interpolating a price to do the MA calculation. Since the ending price stays the same, the moving average will approach this ending price.
Thanks,
Mark
