On closer examination I noticed that Yahoo France displays historical prices up until Feb 1 2106 for the majority of Funds ..so out goes Yahoo too..

With Bloomberg as a global solution out of the picture I propose that you reclassify the data sources on a per instrument and suitable historical source basis eg US stocks, ETFs--> X Source, European Stocks ETFs --> Y source .. European Mutual Funds ---> Z source Currencies---> C Source .. .. . This because the urgency at least for us in Europe, becomes one of linking investments with suitable historical price sources.. I would also suggest that you look into some form of paid download service that can be embedded into the FM.. so that major upsets like the recent elimination of Bloomberg can be avoided as we go forwarded..I am worried that without a swift solution of the European mutual fund historical price retrieval issue FM would loose its practical advantages at least for some of us. Thx C.
Hi Djobydjoba,
Thanks for the help. The fundexplorerpro server seems good.
Hi Costas,
Okay, thanks for the feedback. I can understand that would be easier from an end-user point of view. It can be a longer term goal for us to move that way, but for now we're server based instead of investment type/location based. I agree some server options that include paid choices would be good additions. We do have Quandl which fits into this category. They offer both a selection of free and premium (paid) databases. With this server you sign up for an account with Quandl, and if you want access to the Premium databases you can buy access. You enter your Quandl API key into Fund Manager, so you can access the databases you've paid for. Hopefully Quandl will continue to expand their offerings. If we can find other services like this out there we will definitely look into getting them added. If you have any specific ideas please to let us know.
The financial data provider of http://www.fundexplorerpro.com is "Six". Just for the record, they offer this sort of product : http://www.six-financial-information.co ... daily.html Could be interesting...
Here again, in the TOS of http://www.fundexplorerpro.com

For the record, Börse Frankfurt website : http://en.boerse-frankfurt.de/. Good historical prices depth, many currencies pairs, funds, amongst others. And historical spot prices for some commodities too (not provided by other quote servers).
Hi Djobydjoba,
Okay, thanks for the help/info.
https://www.alphavantage.co/ I don't know what it's worth.
Hi Djobydjoba,
Thanks for the suggestion. I have actually recently been looking at that as a possible new server. Ideally we could find a server that allows multiple tickers to be requested in a single request, like Yahoo used to do. That enabled a much faster price retrieve. From the documentation on this server, I don't believe they offer this capability.
Hi Mark,
Don't you thing a partnership with a data provider (or several) could be beneficial? For better availability and reliability of quotes? This is a concern. There is always the threat that a free quote server close or change the service (or its terms). The user could have access to a catalog of APIs. He would subscribe for what he needs. This kind of thing (just an example): http://www.xignite.com/Products# There is Quandl, but their premium data are disappointing. This is a naive question from me, I have no idea what this would imply (pricing, technical and legal issues, etc.).
Hi Djobydjoba,
Yes, that would be good. I've not really looked into it before, as the cost appeared prohibitive, but maybe it is not. I took a look at xignite, and that seems like a very nice interface. I've not exhaustively explored how much data they have, but it looks comprehensive at first glance. I've initiated a conversation with them to see what it would take to get them integrated into Fund Manager. We'll see...
Hi Mark,
From a post by ebarbero (here: viewtopic.php?p=17886#p17886), Financial Times seems another very interesting source for quotes. I've found there the historical prices for all of my french mutual funds, not available on the other quote servers. The historical prices are available on the FT page one year at a time. The search engine accepts ISIN codes, so it's very handy. From my testing, the website should be exhaustive regarding European mutual funds (I've tried random Italian mutual funds too). I've not went a lot into other investment types. An mutual fund page on FT: https://markets.ft.com/data/funds/tears ... 922963:EUR I don't know if it could be implemented in Fund Manager (TOS concerns, etc.), it would be great. At least, many Fund Manager users from Europe should be interested in knowing that historical prices for the European Fund are available there and can be manually imported at least (can be a solution if coupled with a automatic retrieve of the daily price with Morningstar).
Hi Djobydjoba,
Okay, thanks for the information. We'll take a look...
https://www.investing.com
The website in really a pain without an adblocker (they have an ad-free version for 40$/annually), but otherwise awesome / unmatched content for free (well, if we can bear the ads). The database is huge, awesome, and worldwide. With commodities, CFD, futures, yields, all the indexes we can think of (and not available elsewhere : MSCI, FTSE...), worldwide equities database too, forex, cryptos... Free sign up to have access to portfolios, watchlists, and... to download historical data in .csv (a button I had not noticed before. New?)
