Reblance Filters

I couldn't seem to figure out how to do this. It would be helpful to have a filter option on the rebalance report to look at allocations versus targets without cash.

I know I could put all of the cash items in a separate sub-portfolio but that would mess up my individual broker (sub-portfolio) reports -- which I use a great deal. As a result, I run other custom reports and filter out cash items so that I can manually compare my actual equity allocations to targets (disregarding cash which is carried for other reasons in the broker portfolios).

I thought about creating a custom report with the target allocation and % portfolio columns, but I didn't find a custom field for target allocation.

Thanks.

Hi AssetHound,

Thanks for the feedback. We can consider adding filter options to this report.
Thanks,
Mark

I'd like to second this request. In my case, I'd like to be able to just isolate stocks without bonds and all the little pieces of many diversified mutual funds. (There are mutual funds out there that participate in any and every sector you can name, it seems.) The report is pretty close to useless, even when I do it one account/sub-portfolio at a time.

Alternatively, if both the allocation %s and Delta % were things I could select from the "custom settings" lists, I could construct my own. (I recognize, tho, that maybe that's not all that much simpler for FM programmers.) I find myself wondering why I can't save *any* pre-set report as a new custom report and modify it. The pre-set and custom reports reside in two different universes and never the twain can meet? I'm sure there's a logical, historical reason, but as long as I'm complaining...

Thanks for listening,

Jeanne

Hi Mark,

I would agree with Asset Hound's recommendation to allow a rebalance report filtering out asset classes, such as cash. This would be especially helpful with new client accounts that are being dollar cost averaged over a lengthy period of time, say 18-24 months. It would allow the report to show the actual percentage of asset classes being held without the distortion of the large cash value and without creating a sub portfolio.

Lastly, just how smart are you Mark? Incredible software. :D

Thanks for the quick and useful responses as usual.
