Hidden & Retrieve Price

Comments, critical feedback, praise, or suggestions for new features.

1. When I hide a stock it is for a reason. I sold out and do not want the stock again. I would think that other people would use the same reason. It looks to me as if hiding the stock and stopping the price retrieve are done in different steps using 2 separate tabs and check boxes. Maybe there is a way to combine that operation. Hide and stop price retrieve as one choice. The other choice would be hide and permit price retrieve. Just a thought.
2. "Investment Goal & Asset Type" use a similar setup. In my case I just use 100% or 0%. I would think other people would do the same. Maybe there is a way to add a simple checkbox with the All or Nothing approach instead of having to use the "Adjust Percentage" box each time. That "Adjust Percentage" box does appear somewhat funky since it only displays 2 digits when you could be using the number 100 quite often. Again, just a thought.

Hi sandie,

1) You can do this now with a global command that can apply to any sub-portfolio. See "File / File Operations / Hide Sold Investments...".

2) Thanks for the feedback. We have made an improvement similar to this in the next major version to make assigning 100% to a single category much easier.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

The command to disable retrieve prices for hidden investments, to speed the time for retrieval on a day to day basis, is very handy. However, I wish the retrieval could be re-enabled for these investments with the same ease. Once a year, or more, it is interesting to re-analyze with hindsight the transactions that have been done, entry and exit points. At this particular moment we need to retrieve historical prices that have been elapsed since the exit point.

Thanks.

Hi Djobydjoba,

As long as you've ever owned any shares, it is easy to re-enable price retrieve in a bulk manner. Just use "File / File Operations / Hide Sold Investments...". This dialog (despite its name) can be used to hide or un-hide and also turn on or off the retrieve price property. If you want to use it to turn everything back on, set the date range from the earliest transaction date through today. Leave on the options:

Turn on price retrieve for non-sold investments
Un-hide non-sold investments

This will un-hide and turn on price retrieve for all your investments that you ever owned during this period. Once you're done retrieving prices, you can re-run this command with a shorter date range to re-hide and turn off price retrieve if you want.
Thanks,
Mark
