Feature request: Reccuring transaction

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your work on FM2026.

Ever taught of implementing recurring transactions that would help track automated weekly-monthly deposit.

On that same token, I'm using "Transfer in" to keep track of CASH inflow to accounts. I know we're suppose to use "Buy" CASH but unless I clearly missed something, it seems that none of the reports really show how much money was deposited. "Invested" column seems the closest but it includes distributions when there are. Am I missing something?

Hi MichelV,

Thanks for the feedback. Recurring transactions (unless they are in cash) seem problematic, as they would have to be edited usually, as the purchase price can vary. There is a feature that is geared towards helping with this, and that is in the Data Register you can copy a transaction and then use "Paste Special - Today", which pastes a copy of that transaction, but with today's date. This would retain the same value/price/shares, but just change the transaction's date to today. If necessary, you could then edit the appropriate fields.

Using Transfer In for cash buys is fine. To find out how much money has flown in/out of a portfolio you can use the report fields Contributions and Withdrawals. These are available in the Portfolio Performance, Custom, and Executive Summary reports. You can also use a filter in an Investment Transaction report to see the specific transactions that flowed in/out. For more on this, see the documentation on External Cash Flow.
