A few minor improvements I hope to see...

I use FM daily for about a good year now, and recently upgraded to the Pro version. Most of these are small details, simple to implement.

So here goes:
  • Investment and portfolio related Graphs should remember their last settings automatically. So if I set a graph to be over 3 months, of such type, it should remember it without me having to save it explicitly.
  • The precision of a trailing alert (Pro version) should be 1/10th of a percent. That's surely easy to change. There is a big difference between 1 and 2 % ! (Trailing on fixed + or - values would also be nice).
  • Alerts should not vanish from a graph, once triggered. Maybe, the alert line on the graph should be green initially and red once triggered. But it should surely not disappear.
  • An easier way to modify alerts. The record a new alert button is only for new alerts. Currently on has to go Data Register/Data Type/Alert; a toolbar button would be cool.
  • The ability to copy to a new investment, without linking to the original one. Once I've created an investment and set all settings, properties, I'd want to copy it to create a new one. It seems if I do that, all changes to the 'copy' are also changes to the original; so I mean, the copy should have it's own DAT file.
  • A way to reliably verify that historical updates to investments were successful, for all values and investments.
And no, I don't expect this for tomorrow morning, but knowing the responsiveness of the Admin of this site, some changes may happen soon. :D

While some improvements were already in v12, one more:

  • In the portfolio Editor, Update Single Investment - Repeat: add a small button to delete the values for the given day. Motivation: sometimes, when entering data from a site, one forgets to skip a weekend. It could be easily corrected if there was a possibility to delete one or two days without leaving the dialog.

Hi CeSinge,

Okay, thanks for the idea. It sounds like you already know this, but I wanted to make sure you saw that you can delete prices for all investments for a given date. You can't do it from within that price update dialog, but there are the "Delete Price" commands where you can delete prices from one or all investments for a specified date.
Thanks,
Mark

Honestly, I didn't know...
And I also realized that there are very handy keyboard shortcuts for the price edit boxes.

I did quite some manual data entry these days, so here is some refinement, based on the above:

[list][*]In the Update Price (single or multiple investments) - Repeat dialogs: press the d key anywhere to delete the current date and associated values for the current investment(s). The d is far enough from u and the j, so it will not happen by mistake. This avoids having to leave the dialog box when one forgets to skip a holiday or weekend.[/*]
[*]Add a Skip Weekends check box somewhere, whereby weekend days would be automatically skipped. It should be enabled by default.
[*]Deactivate the keys around u j i k o l, so the keys y h n m , . / ; [ because hitting them forces to renter the day completely (fat fingers... :-)). To be good, those keys should be disabled, not the letters, because on some international keyboards, the results may be different.
[*]On the Delete prices - One day (one or all investments), the [Delete] button should not close the dialog box, allowing to delete several individual dates. Rename the Cancel button to Close, to close the dialog.
Thank you,
CeSinge
