Hi Mark,
I am a member of AAII and occasionally participate in their discussion forums. There is a discussion going on portfolio management programs and I and at least one other person have recommended Fund Manager. This has recently generated some questions. Three are shown below. I think it might be valuable if you had a presence on the forum. If you don't want to join AAII (I think it's $30/year) I will be glad to post your answers for you. Here are the 3 questions that are currently out there:
It turns out the Fund Manager has a report that gives monthly performance numbers and you can select the subportfolio for which the report is run. But there is no report that lists performance by month by subportfolio. Am I missing something?
Does this Fund Manager program calculate cost bassis if you trade covered calls of diaginal spreads?
I currently use Investment Account Manager. My big complaint is the limited number of asset classes and inability to add new asset classes. I want information across multiple accounts for such asset classes as "Europe", "world ex-US", ... instead of "international stocks", and "long/intermediate/short term bonds", instead of "fixed Income". This is impossible in IAM.
QUESTION: What portfolio management programs will give me the ability to define my own asset classes? I have looked at MoneyDance which has this capability, but terminology and security management are awkward to the new user.
