Rebalance report with absolute target

Comments, critical feedback, praise, or suggestions for new features.

I'm just started with the FM software, which gives me a lot of information. Great !

In my financial plan i've drawn a line how much money must be invested on a certain time to meet the future obligations.
Therefore on a fixed date I ''l rebalance my portfolio to both a total portfolio value and a target % of assets.
The current rebalance report in FM does only rebalance to target % of assets.
If you can add in the window "Allocation Target properties" an additional field where i could put in the "target portfolio value" on that moment and show in the report the target the actual %, delta % and delta value against this "target portfolio value" this will be very helpfull. The ultimated situation will be where I can define in front " The target portfolio Value" for the coming years. But this could be step 2.

I repeat: I just started working with FM, so maybe this way of working is already possible with FM but I couldn't find this.

Thanks gerard

Hi gerard,

Thanks for the feedback. Do you want to see a value difference for each security, or just the whole portfolio?

One idea would be to use the Rebalance report to allocate your percentages, but compare your actual sub-portfolio total value with a hypothetical model portfolio, where you have entered your target values on different dates into this model portfolio. In this case, you could use the "Portfolio/Investment(s) Overlay / Value" graph to overlay both sub-portfolios, so you can graphically see the difference in your actual versus target value over time.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Thx for your reply.
Yes I would like to see the value difference for each asset categorie.

I tried your suggestion with Overlay/Value graph, this gives a overal view, but it is difficult to retrieve the delta's from the graph for the indivudial asset categories.

Mark,

I've a workable solution.
On the balance moment: I check actual value of portfolio and the value it should have acoording to plan. The difference I temporary add / subtract from the cash account. Then I do the rebalance.

I would be nice if in the futher: you can define a permissible range for an asset class. And if fundmanager detects an out-of range situation you w''l be notified.
