Access Denied That Began Today

I have up to date Personal Version 11.9 on Win 7 that I use daily, but today I am receiving "Access Denied" notices whenever I try to change from portfolio to portfolio and even when I try to close the program.... I do not think I've changed anything other than installing the lates Windows updates.... I can update the prices, but then I cannot save the update.... Have I given you enough info to figure this out?
Problem solved! I don't know what caused the problem but I reinstalled FM 11.9 Personal and it is working fine now........
Problem NOT solved! When I reinstall and automatically open FM after the reinstall, everything works correctly. However, once I close FM and reopen it again, the same problem happens. If I try to open a new portfolio it says "Access Denied." When I press "OK" in the "Access Denied" button, a new button opens saying "portfolio autosave failed." When I press OK in the button, the button goes away and the Open Portfolio window opens and I can go to another portfolio but I will not be able to save any pricing update. Then when I try to close the program, I get Access Denied again, Porfolio autosave failed, and then the program closes..... I have done nothing else in the computer between reinstalling the program, closing it, and reopening that could cause this.... Any ideas?
Hi 2whiteroses,
Since it works when FM was launched from the installer (where you're running as an admin in this case) I'm guessing you have your data files located in the Program Files folder somewhere? When you get the access denied error message does it tell you the full path and filename of the file you don't have access to? Where is your data stored? If you are running under Vista or Windows 7, you should not store your data under the Program Files folder. If your data is in the Program Files folder, move it to the "My Documents \ Fund Manager" folder, and then open it from there instead. For some background on this, see: http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/vist ... sions.html
My Data is indeed in the My Documents folder on Win7.... I finally used a System Restore to fix the problem, though I am still not entirely certain what caused the problem...... I have reinstalled the Windows updates, and that did not impact FM, so I suspect something in Auslogics Boost Speed 5.3 impacted FM. Though I restored all changes that Auslogics had done since installalation Jun 11, that didn't solve the problem, but System Restore WITHOUT reinstalling Auslogics has worked... The only other thing I can think of as a possibility is that when I was originally doing Windows updates for the week this week on Wednesday, my internet was interrupted, so Windows updates did not install the way it was supposed to. There were 14 updates and only 6 installed the first time and the remainder installed later on. This time, after System Restore, 13 of 14 installed and the 14th installed once the others had been installed. In any event, FM works now.. . Incidentally, I discovered that FM was not the only program negatively impacted by whatever happened. Another periphery program also wasn't working and it too works now.
Hope this report helps... sorry if it's not helpful for you.
Hi 2whiteroses,
Glad you've been able to resolve the issue...
