Possible 11 beta issue...

I manually posted a mutual fund distribution (reinvested) with today's date. Price was 18.13. After saying Done & returning to Portfolio Editor, the price for today (actually as-of last night), which was $18.32 now reads $18.13. I edited divd distribution & changed date back to 3/29/11 thinking that might be the reason why but it stayed at 18.13 & attempts to retrieve selected price would not change it; neither did retrieving historical prices from March 1 - 31. I then used the "delete price range - one investment' option followed by the retrieve historical (mar 1st - 31st) & that DID correct the price back to 18.32.

Hi gmsimon,

This is not specific to the 11 Beta. All Fund Manager versions will work this way.

When you record a transaction with a price, if there is not already a closing price recorded for that date, Fund Manager uses the transaction price to update the closing price for that date.

When you recorded the reinvestment for today, today's closing price will be updated using the transaction price. Since there is no available price for today yet (this was a mutual fund, and the market hasn't closed), retrieving prices now will not overwrite the closing price recorded from the transaction. When you retrieve after market close, it would overwrite the closing price.

You can see your recorded closing prices in the Data Register with the "Prices" data type.
Thanks,
Mark
