Mark,

It's the time of the year that mutual funds post dividend, short-term capital gain and long-term capital gain distributions. Right now, if a fund posts more that one of the above mentioned distributions, the reinvestment (the combined amount of all the distributions) actually is treated as a purchase by Fund Manager, not reinvestment.

For example, a $100 dividend, a $100 short-term capital gain and a $100 of long-term capital would become a $300 purchase. Is it possible to put some logic in Fund Manager that if the total distribution of the day matches one the purchases of that day, treat that purchase as a distribution reinvestment, not a purchase. Thank you.

Hi tslee,

How are you recording your transactions? Are you saying that you retrieve these from the fund company using the transaction retrieve feature, and you get 3 distributions, plus a single purchase?

If you're manually recording transactions, you can record these as 3 reinvestments.

If you're retrieving transactions, Fund Manager records them as reported by your broker/fund company. There is an option to combine a reported distribution and purchase into a reinvestment, but this only works if there is 1 distribution and 1 purchase for the same amount and same date. If your fund company reports 3 distributions and 1 purchase, that is how FM will record it.
Thanks,
Mark
