Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager
by Tintin » Tue Dec 09, 2025 10:48 am
It appears that Fidelity is placing the onus of fixing THEIR unannounced protocol change on the 3rd party. Most likely with many sticks in the wheel ... and added fees. It's an Apple business model (dongles, keys, imbedded chips in cables, yearly cable plug changes, et al) ------------------------------- "We appreciate you sharing your experience, and I have forwarded your comments as feedback to the appropriate team. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We are happy to help. Thank you for choosing to invest with Fidelity and hope you have a great day! ------------------------------- The new world sarcasm as they lie and screw you " ... have a great day!". I'm looking into InteractiveBrokers/Tradestation.
WILL FUND MANAGER support Tradestation that uses InteractiveBrokers?

Hi Tintin, Thanks for contacting Fidelity and letting them know. I do believe this is valuable feedback they need to hear from their customers, and it has helped. We are currently working with them to hopefully restore access soon. Yes, Fund Manager works with Interactive Brokers. They now have an OFX server, and it is available for use from within Fund Manager now. See these tips on using Interactive Brokers.

Hi Mark, I have the .CSV (Fidelity to FM) spreadsheet working for my case and updated successfully about 50 transactions. I intend to make some adjustments and let you know. Under the circumstances, it will work for me in the short term. Thanks for your help. Tom

I am also unable to download transactions from Fidelity; will call them and ask when they are going to fix the problem.

Mark, Fidelity stated that you must be able to work with FDX - Financial Data Exchange software to download transactions. Hope this helps. I'm still able to download the Schwab data. Hopefully, you can get it straightened out for Fidelity also.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your efforts reaching out to Fidelity. Yes, we're aware of the new FDX server, and can support this protocol, as we do with Schwab. Accessing Fidelity's FDX server requires permission be given by Fidelity to any 3rd party app, such as Fund Manager, before we can access the new server. We have been in contact with Fidelity, and are going through their process now. I don't have an ETA when this functionality will be restored. I also don't even know if they will approve Fund Manager, we'll see...

Mark,
I spent a couple hours modifying files for missing columns, mappings and data formats only for Fund Manager to throw errors with very little explanation. I gave up.
Man, I am done. I have far too much activity to continue to make manual changes.

Just wanted you to know that I have tried your workaround that you posted for downloading from Fidelity Net Benefits. But the problem with the CVS download is that the symbols used in the Quicken download are the not same correct symbols for any of my funds. I would have to redo that whole column if I want to use their download to upload into FM. That is going to be a hugh amount of work on my part becasue it is the end of year and there are alot of dividends and capital gains. I am surprised by this problem. Did I do something incorrectly?

Hi Max, Sorry for the frustrating experience. I do understand. The current "helper" worksheet is not user-friendly. As discussed here, we are working on a better solution. We will soon have a dedicated import routine that allows you to directly import the downloaded CSV files from Fidelity. There will be no need to use the spreadsheet to massage the data before import, and hopefully we can have better transaction coverage as well. I expect this to be available within a few days. This won't be as convenient as the prior "retrieve", but will be much better than the current situation.

Hi Sterling25, Please see this post for tips on using the QIF import. With Fidelity NetBenefits there is no CSV that needs to be used, it should only be the QIF format. The CSV is only for the regular Fidelity site. See the Fidelity NetBenefits instructions. With NetBenefits there is no helper spreadsheet to use, just import the as downloaded QIF file. The main issue with QIF is that it uses the "Name" field to match incoming transactions, so the investment name must match what is shown in the QIF file. A QIF file can be opened in a text editor like Notepad so you can see how the name needs to be recorded before importing.

I found myself over on the Bogleheads.org website today and there are a lot of Moneydance users posting who are facing the same problem with Fidelity. One of the posters quoted a response that he had received from Moneydance (maybe its posted on their website, I'm not sure) that they were working with Plaid to try to come up with a solution. At present they don't have one.
I think that the future is that if you have the clout of Quicken you get what you want. I don't need Quicken or Moneydance to manage my credit cards or online bill pay with my bank and I'm satisfied with Fund Manager to do precisely what it is designed to do, which is to manage my portfolios of publicly listed equities.
It does seem odd to me that Fidelity allows account holders to download a CSV file but no other file format (Vanguard at least gives you two formats to choose from), but I think that Mark's suggested approach to write software to work with the CSV format and translate it into something that can be imported into FM may be the only way to solve the problem.

Hi HighTwelve,
Thanks for sharing that. It is interesting. It does seem these bigger brokers aren't too interested in allowing smaller 3rd party apps to use their interfaces. It would be nice if they made available some sort of standardized file, like Vanguard does.
I hope to have a Fidelity CSV specific import/reconciliation feature added to FM very soon.

Mark, thank you. I needed the reminder of how to edit the QIF file. All is working for these accounts. Now I need to tackle the regular Fidelity files.

I would suggest waiting a few days until we release an update with the Fidelity CSV specific import. It will be much easier/better than the current workaround using the "helper" spreadsheet.
