Unable to Download Merrill Transactions

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby surendar jeyadev » Sat Nov 08, 2025 9:28 am

Mark,

I updated FundManager 2026 (2026p2) on 3 Nov 2025.

Today, I found that I could not download my transactions from Merrill. The error I got said that the account was not found. Upon checking the Transaction Retrieve Settings, I was surprised to see that the institution was set to "Advantage Capital"! (I also find the same change in two other Merrill accounts and I have not yet checked the Vanguard accounts. However, that point is moot as the way to get those transactions is by downloading a QFX file. I also take care of a small account for a non-profit at Fidelity. I find that the Transaction Retrieve Settings still show "Fidelity" - not Advantage Capital. I have not tried downloading as yet.)

The pull down menu does not list Merrill and so I chose "Banc of America Investment Services", double checked the User ID, Password and Account Number. All were correct. Upon attempting to retrieve the transactions, I now got an error message saying

Signon Invalid
Error Occurred logging in

I do not see anyone else writing in about this, but I am mystified by the sudden change. Yes, we went through the Vanguard issue a year ago, but please do not tell me this is a repeat.

All this is new. I did not have any problems a month ago when I downloaded transactions directly into FM from Merrill and TR Price.

Also, I have been able to log into my Merrill accounts using the same information I give FundManager.

If there is something about which server at Merrill (or Banc of America) that FM is contacting, please let us know. The fact that the institution name was changed from whatever is was to "Advantage Capital" may be a clue.

Please advise.

Thanks.

I am sorry for not doing a more exhaustive search for "Merrill" before my post. When I redid the search on the whole Board, I did hit upon some history. As a once a month user, I had not known about this until now. The whole story at

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6903&p=27997&hilit=merrill#p27997

explains it all.

I am some kind of Platinum something Merrill/BA customer, so I can going to talk to my relationship manager (unlike Vanguard, here I can call the person and someone in his team picks up the phone in 20 seconds!) and see if I can put in a request for FDX access.

Sad to see all these developments.

Hi surendar jeyadev,

Glad you found the answer. Thanks for any help on getting us access to their FDX server. So far the answer has been that they only support a handful of companies, and we weren't allowed access.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Can we get a status update on downloading Merrill transactions? Are you still hoping to get access to their FDX server? Are you planning to develop a Merrill CSV import similar to what you've just released for Fidelity? When might we expect a solution?
Thanks!

Hi Shmuel,

We aren't able to get access to their new FDX server. We didn't even really get a direct meeting with them, as we did with Fidelity.

A "Merrill CSV" import is an option, but not in the immediate future. We don't seem to have as many customers who were using Merrill as compared to Fidelity, and it is a significant effort to develop such a new import.

For now, the solution is described here.
Thanks,
Mark
