Vanguard Transactione Retrieve Error

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Bsrr » Tue Dec 09, 2025 7:35 pm

Hi Mark - thanks for the follow up regarding Vanguard. Last I knew Vanguard has about ~$10T of assets under management. I don’t use their Advisor Services but do have a “high” status at Vanguard. That said, given they manage $10T I doubt my voice will mean much but FYI for you and others - I will reach out to them and make some noise! If I have any success you all will be the first to know.

Hi Mark - I have pursued pushing Vanguard to fix the FM auto download issue. Below is the last portion of our interaction. My contact has agreed to elevate the request from FM (you) and I had asked if I could forward your info on to them. Please see below and let me know what your contact info is so I can add it to the request. I will keep bothering them after forwarding this on. Thanks.

Thank you for your follow-up and for sharing the Quicken format workaround. I agree that importing the Quicken file provides better detail than CSV and is a good interim option while OFX connectivity remains unavailable.

I completely understand your concerns about data integrity and the need for a more secure, automated solution. Vanguard’s decision to disable OFX was driven by fraud prevention, but I recognize the impact this has on advisors and clients.

I will escalate your feedback again and emphasize the importance of finding a secure alternative for Fund Manager integration. If you can provide the Fund Manager owner’s contact information, I’ll include it in the escalation so the appropriate team can review and determine if direct engagement is possible.

Please feel free to forward the contact details, and I’ll make sure they are added to the request. In the meantime, if you need assistance with the Quicken download process or have any other questions, you can also reach our service team at 800‑345‑1344 on business days from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Hi Bsrr,

Thanks for your efforts. I've just sent you an email with the requested contact info.

Update: The email bounced back. I sent it to the email you have registered on the forum. I'll re-send it via private message on this forum.
Thanks,
Mark

Sorry about the bad email. Forgot to change it after it was no longer being used. I will forward your contact info to Vanguard and keep bothering them and we will see what happens. Thanks.

For all FM customers with Vanguard accounts: I will keep "making noise" but of course no guarantees. I will follow up with my contact that we aren't necessarily looking to get OFX restored as Vanguard has indicated that they aren't keen on that anymore in this day and age. But a technically sound solution that meets their needs and allows for direct download inside FM again is what we want. This is the latest response from my contact at Vanguard:

Thank you for following up. I’ve escalated your feedback internally and informed my manager to ensure this issue receives visibility and priority.

At this time, I have not received confirmation on whether Vanguard will pursue direct engagement or provide a timeline for restoring OFX connectivity. Please know that I’ve emphasized the impact on advisors and clients, and I will continue to monitor for any updates.

I understand how frustrating this situation is, and I’ll share any new information with you as soon as I receive it.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this matter.

New user setting up my accounts. Is there a work around to get Vanguard information into Fund Manager Personal 2026. From the thread it seems Vanguard no longer supports direct updates. Thanks

Hi Skysl,

Welcome. Yes, the workaround for Vanguard is to download a QFX file, and import it. We have some instructions here:

https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq_vanguard.php

If you're just getting started I wouldn't use the New Portfolio Wizard in this case. There are a couple of ways you could get an account set up:

Case 1: Import positions as of Date X. Start importing transactions on Date X + 1 going forward.

Case 2: Import transactions since inception.

You can import either positions or transactions from a Vanguard downloaded QFX file (see "File / Import" in FM). The positions will be as of now though, so if you choose Case 1, you'd import positions today, and starting tomorrow import only transactions. If you want more history, import all your transaction history and no positions. That is harder to set up, but gives you more historical data. I'm not sure how far back Vanguard allows transaction download, but in the case where you can't get back all the way to inception, you may have to either record a starting "adjustment" purchase, or manually record the missing history prior to what Vanguard allows you to download.
Thanks,
Mark
