Retrieve ETF prices from Mornistar IT does not work

Hi Mark
I am successfully using Morningstar IT to retrieve Mutual Fund prices and it works.

However retrieving ETF prices from Morningstar IT fails. All of my ETFS are failing to update.

For example the following Ishares ETF

iShares $ Floating Rate Bond UCITS ETF USD (Dist) ISIN code: IE00BZ048462
Symbol : 0P0001BTXL

generates this error

WARNING - Unable to update: "0P0001BTXL" (iShares $ Floating Rate Bond UCITS ETF USD (Dist) in Investments/INPS + NON INPS/ETF 2022)

this is the page in Mornigstar IT where the price can be manually retrieved:

Any ideas or anything I should correct in my configuration ?

Hi Giancarlo,

The server "Morningstar IT - Funds" only works on traditional funds, not ETFs or stocks. If you look at a fund like this:

https://www.morningstar.it/it/funds/sna ... F00000PWXI

you'll see it has "/funds" in the URL. This is where FM is going, and the ETFs on Morningstar's site go to a different URL, like the one you showed, that has "/etf" in the URL instead. It is something we could add support for, but it isn't currently supported. You might try another server that has good international coverage, like Yahoo, Stooq, or FondsCheck. Links to all our supported quote servers are here:

so you can use your web browser to see if any of these servers offer the quotes you're after before putting them in Fund Manager.

Hi Giancarlo,

I encountered the same problem long time ago and switched to the Wall Street Journal and Wall Street Journal (Historical) servers for ETF internet retrieve information.

They have correct current pricing and go back several years in their historical database for UCITS ETFs traded in Europe and London. This might save you some time in trial and errors (I tried various servers before, yahoo in primis, and found some not to be very reliable).

I do agree with what has been written.
I would like to share my experience that has cost me a great deal of time
as I found that to use Fund Manager for Italian costumers is rather cumbersome.

1. Wall Street historical is much more reliable than Yahoo.
2. If you have the pro or Advisor version Yahoo (if quotes are avalilable)
is better for intraday update because it has a 15 minutes delay rather
than 20 minutes of Wall street.
3 . If you don't find quotes of investments that can't be automatically
updated I advise you to dowload historical data from Sole24 web site
and in many cases they go back up to10 years.

I copy here the procedure that I follow and the string that you must write in FM for the generic import file that I wrote with the main help from Mark

8. controllare simbolo decimali

By the way in order to have less problems I do use Fm with the Options -general preferences

I will also try using Il Sole 24 for historical price retrieval.
